Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology starts technology offensive
Seizing opportunities and observing technological neutrality have brought forward German companies worldwide. Numerous innovative entrepreneurs and resourceful inventors have laid the foundation for the record economic upswing of the last few months. In order to further strengthen these important impulses, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology launches a new technology offensive.
The Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Rainer Brüderle, said: "After a period of sluggish economic growth our economy has picked up speed again. We must now make use of this momentum to ensure that this growth miracle is sustainable. Impulses for the future rather than an obstructive attitude bring Germany forward. Technology and innovation sow the seeds for Germany as an industrial location.
With the new technology offensive the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology strengthens these forces. We improve the framework conditions, back small and medium-sized enterprises in the fields of innovation and research and promote key technologies. I particularly intend to better integrate interested citizens and pool the broad range of support tools to make them even more effective."
Favourable framework conditions for research and development are a key success factor. For this reason, better protection of intellectual property rights and the accelerated introduction of the EU patent are major elements of the new technology offensive. A shortage of skilled labour hampers innovation and competitiveness. Against this background, the Federal Ministry of Economics also gives priority to helping German companies to attract qualified employees.
