VITA 34: FIRST RESEARCH PRIZE FOR CORD BLOOD STEM CELLS ENDOWED

The increasingly important role of stems cells from cord blood isn’t just restricted to leukemia and other malignant blood diseases. More and more stem cell therapies are making the leap from the experimental phase to clinical studies. Far from being exhausted, the range of applications of umbilical cord stem cells is constantly increasing. Accordingly, the North German Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Donors Registry based in Hanover has this year launched the NKR Cord Blood Research Prize endowed by the Vita 34 umbilical cord blood bank. By the way, Vita 34 recently increased its strength on the market in Spain by buying out Novel Pharma S.L. for around € 3 million – and thus indirectly acquiring a nearly 52% stake in Spanish company Secuvita S.L.
