Biotech Showcase™ is an investor and partnering conference devoted to providing private and small- and mid-cap biotechnology companies an opportunity to present to and meet with investors and biopharmaceutical executives during the course of one of the largest annual healthcare conferences that attracts investors and biopharmaceutical executives from around the world.
The 2013 event showed a substantial increase in the number of presenting companies, as well as significant growth in the number of attendees and one-to-one meetings. Now in its sixth year, Biotech Showcase 2014 is expected to feature presentations by close to 250 public and private companies and attract more than 1,500 attendees. The biotechnology network within Saxony is growing and getting stronger. Fostering the communication and cooperation within the field of biotechnology in Saxony is the main goal of the Saxon Biotechnology Symposium. The BIOTEChnology Center of the TU Dresden and the Center for Biotechnology and Biomedicine of the University of Leipzig are cooperating for the fifth time to organize this Saxon-wide forum this year in Dresden.
Invited speakers from international companies including GSK, Dow AgroSciences, Sanofi Aventis and Celera as well as speakers from national companies and academia will shed light on how to create and grow a business and which ideas lead to success. In addition, a poster session has been planned to allow you to present your research. Posters should present scientific work and ideas how to turn them into a business. The author of the best poster will be awarded with a training "How to develop a business" – sponsored by biosaxony. Numerous companies will also present their latest developments.

Vom 09.–14. April 2014 findet im Maritim-Hotel in Magdeburg das „8th International Symposium on Neuroprotection and Neurorepair“ statt. Ausrichter dieses Symposiums wird das Fraunhofer Institut für Zelltherapie und Immunologie Leipzig in Kooperation mit der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg sein.
Die wissenschaftlichen Schwerpunkte des Symposiums werden neurodegenerative Erkrankungen wie der Schlaganfall, die Alzheimersche und die Parkinsonsche Erkrankung sein. In zahlreichen Vortragsveranstaltungen werden die Grundlagen dieser Erkrankungen sowie neuartige therapeutische und diagnostische Ansätze diskutiert werden.
