The German Conference on Synthetic Biology 2021 (GCSB 2021) is currently being organised as a double event taking place in Darmstadt (1-3 September 2021) and online(13-17 September 2021). GASB is organizer of the Darmstadt programme and the joint study group of GBM, GDCh, DBG and  DECHEMA is currently organising the online programme.

Authors are kindly invited to submit abstracts of lectures and posters. The deadline for submissions to the lecture programme is 28 May 2021.

The programme will feature current research from various fields of synthetic biology:

  • Agricultural and environmental applications
  • Automation, bioinformatics, data science, and systems biology
  • Biomedical applications
  • Industrial applications
  • Methods and technologies (protein engineering, optogenetics, xenobiology,  genetic circuits, molecular biosensors, genome editing & synthesis)
  • SynBioArt
  • Smart Materials and synthetic protocells

Generous support by the Joachim-Herz-Stiftung enabling free registration of 125 students is gratefully acknowledged.

Among the keynote speakers who have already confirmed their participation are Philipp Holliger (Cambridge) xenobiology, Drew Endy (Stanford) on genetic switchboards and Petra Schwille (MPI München) on bottom-up synthesis. A special highlight will be the session on synthetic biology and art with contributions by Daisy Ginsberg (Somerset House, London) and Philip Ross (MycoWorks).
