InnoHealth China
Innovative proposals and solutions for the challenges of the Chinese and German Health Sector
As a constituent part of the initiative Research in Germany, InnoHealth China is the current campaign for the period of 2019-2020 led by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The campaign aims to connect the Chinese and the German healthcare research sectors, also involving small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and start-ups. The major goals of the InnoHealth China campaign are as follows:
- Linking stakeholders of the Chinese healthcare sector with those of German high-tech competencies and research excellence to discuss new cooperation ideas and research perspectives
- Giving attendees from both countries the ability to learn more about each other in terms of research, business approach and culture
- Identifying opportunities for projects which have potential to progress in the healthcare sector in both countries
- Indicating funding possibilities for participants for their innovative projects or processes
- Initiating a mentality of cooperation and exchange as well as establish a sustainable network
The winners of the Call for Ideas & Innovation have been chosen: Seven tandems, each of them consisting of one representative from research and science and one from a SME or start-up. From endoscopic, magnetically steerable capsule drones to the use of social media in precision medicine and to a platform for the rapid detection of epidemics: the projects awarded as part of the InnoHealth China campaign mainly revolve around the development of solutions, improvements in diagnostics, analysis and enable application – both for patients and for employees in the health sector.
These are the seven companies which have been awarded for InnoHealth China: biosaxony Management GmbH, eMedicals Healthtech GmbH, Invandus OHG, RMGerätebau, Thomas Hilfen für Körperbehinderte GmbH & Co. Medico KG, Thomas J.C. Matzen GmbH and Xpectors. Among the winners of research and science are the University of Bonn, the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Hospital of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt. Also, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is represented by four of its institutes: the Institute for Ceramics Technologies and Systems IKTS, for Microengineering and Microsystems IMM, for Software and Systems Engineering ISST and for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME.
Project: Health Dissemination China
The health markets around the world are highly regulated and the different requirements for approval, reimbursement and funding are huge hurdles for Start-ups, SMEs and researchers. Due to limitations in budget and workforce, single representatives might not have the perseverance to find the right contacts within a large country as China. Cluster associations on the one side and research officials on the other side are ideal multiplayer to screen the market and connect the regional industry and research across borders. The succussful cooperation on national level between biosaxony and the Fraunhofer IKTS could be a blueprint for international markets as well.
